Rev. Michael Hughes
Pastor Mike came to St. John’s in July of 2019. He is husband to Cory and father to Brennen and Emelyn. St. John’s is the second parish he has served as a pastor, his first call being to St. Luke’s, Lima. Pastor Mike received his M.Div. at Trinity Lutheran Seminary (’10). He and Cory met at Capital University in Bexley, where they each graduated with a degree in education (’00 and ’99, respectively). Prior to seminary, Pastor Mike served as the year-round program director at Camp Mowana (a former camp of Lutheran Outdoor Ministries in Ohio) near where he grew up in Mansfield. Church camp continues to be a part of the Hughes family’s life, as each summer they spend a week at Camp Luther where Cory was formerly on staff. Pastor Mike is passionate about leading worship and teaching the Bible. He also enjoys exploring the nearby parks and nature preserves, playing board games, trying new restaurants, and dabbling in woodworking.
